The Danish Canadian Museum invites you to explore the rich history of Danish settlers in Canada, a saga that began over 1000 years ago. Constructed in 1933, the Verbena Dormitory served as a boarding house for local high school girls from pioneer farm families in the area. It now boasts over 5000 artifacts, thirteen acres of green space, and traditional Danish delicacies at the Saga Café.Visitors of the museum will enjoy a unique experience as they explore our exhibits showcased both indoors and around the gardens. Early Danish Canadian life truly comes alive at the bow of the Freydis Joanna Viking Ship, the doorstep of the Thomsen Pioneer Cabin, and the exquisite flowerbeds that pay tribute to the agricultural triumphs of early settlers. Our goal is to inspire, engage, and educate the public about the history of Danes living in Canada. The Danish Canadian Museum serves as a cultural center to display and celebrate the story of Danish Canadians both past and present.
